Long term problems on the course
only few things in life are perfect and to achieve a perfect golf course, never ending amount of work is needed to be done. Our Greenkeeper Tomas Kuzela has set this high target for him self and with team of cutters, gardeners and grass specialists started the project before the end of last season. Some results of his painstaking work could be already seen this summer. After a thorough inspection and analysation of all the problems he started immediately working on our bigest threat, 4-5 cm deep felt, which is the cause of soft terrain. For this season he scheduled plan of maintenance, whose timetable You can see in the table below. The course will be continuously aerated throughout summer months and deep aeration will take turn with hollow tine aeration. During the season each 9 hole course will be closed for 2 weeks for complete servis concluded by aeration and sand dressing. The felt on the golf course is unfortunately long term problem, but it is not unsolvable. We ask the golfers for understanding and patience during the repare restrictions.
French drains
during the last winter, the greenkeeper decided to instale french drains on the fairways of halls no: 3,4,5,7 and 13, which will help to reduce water retaining. This type of drains works on installing draining channels, filling them with grit which stay visible and in time are overgrowned by grass stems. No soil cover is being used, therefore the channels stay functional for longer time period.
